Reinventing the scale of public and private space in the context of the Calton neighbourhood

Under the driving words "to care", our team performed a two-week in-depth analysis of the city of Glasgow. We came away with an understanding of some of the problems needing to be addressed for the city to better care for its people and vice versa.
In our first proposed intervention based on that research, we created a feasibility study for a redevelopment of the residential area in The Calton in the east end of the city. To replace the low-rise, under-utilized and haphazardly developed residential blocks, we propose a mid-rise mixed-use development with an emphasis on pedestrian access, open spaces and public life.
