a coffee house
TO CARE III

This coffee house project is an opportunity to quickly explore what a dedicated space for children could look like in the city. As the coffee house is a place for social interactions, we shouldn’t forget that a different age group, like in this case - children aged 5-10, would experience their social interactions in a different way than adults, but just as intensely. It can even be argued that at that age the appropriate space for social interactions can play a crucial role in children’s further development as individuals, but often dedicated spaces for children don’t exist or are not easily found in cities.
Caring for the city means caring for its different residents. The well-being and comfort of children would positively affect their parents as well, which increases the impact of such an intervention in the Glasgow. The proposed space would serve as a play centre where parents who have gone the city centre for a few hours can leave their children to enjoy their time doing constructive activities. The schedule of accommodation would include a reception area, various play areas, an administration office and supply storage, and toilets.
